Possible causes on a Defy fridge-freezer include packed vents, a failed or weak fan on frost-free models, a control that is no longer holding the set point, ice blocking the evaporator, a door that is not closing, an electrical fault, a compressor-related problem or a refrigeration-system fault.
On older Defy cabinets the control is often a simple dial. Households turn it to the coldest stop after food spoils, which can ice the fridge section without fixing a blocked airflow path. The visit resets the diagnosis to what the cabinet is actually doing.

Defy leaks in Harare kitchens are frequently defrost water that cannot reach the drain pan, or a door seal that has hardened so the cabinet ices and then melts onto the floor.
There is rarely a water connection on a basic Defy fridge-freezer. That makes dispenser lines a less common cause than on Samsung or LG cabinets, and makes drain and seal checks more important.
A long-serving Defy fridge has a familiar hum. Book when that hum becomes a knock, a grind, or a rapid click, or when the sound arrives with poor cooling.
Some vibration is the cabinet touching a kitchen unit. Some clicking is a start component. Neither is treated as automatic compressor failure.
Manual-defrost and frost-free Defy cabinets both appear in Harare. Thick ice on a manual-defrost freezer is often overdue defrosting; thick ice on a frost-free Defy is a fault to inspect.
Do not chip ice off the liner. If you defrost a Defy freezer, catch the water and keep it away from the compressor area and the socket.
A Defy fridge that is too warm, too cold, or swinging through the day is usually a control, airflow or door-seal issue first. Food freezing in the fridge box is not a cue to add gas.
If only the freezer compartment is weak, use the fridge-not-freezing page and still mention Defy so the technician expects a two-door household cabinet.
No light and no sound on a Defy fridge is a supply or internal electrical fault. Test the socket, check the breaker, and unplug the appliance if the plug is burnt or the outlet is hot.
Do not bypass the thermostat or the compressor relay as a home test. Those checks belong on the visit.
A Defy that clicks repeatedly or never gets cold can involve the starting components, the control, a heavy ice load, a fan, the refrigeration system or another fault. The compressor is not condemned because the fridge is old, or because it clicks.
Age is discussed honestly after the inspection if a repair will cost more than the cabinet is worth.

FRIDGE REGASSING
A Defy fridge that is not cooling does not automatically need regassing. Cooling problems can also involve airflow, fans, sensors, temperature controls, electrical faults, ice buildup, compressor-related problems or other faults. The fridge should first be assessed to determine whether refrigeration-system work is appropriate.
Fridge regassing from US$30 applies only where that work is appropriate. It will not restart a Defy fridge that has no power.

Double-door Defy cabinets are common. Side-by-side Defy refrigeration is less common here; if you have one, say so on the booking so access is planned.
Defy fridge-freezers are diagnosed at the house. Pulling a heavy two-door cabinet to a workshop before anyone has seen the frost pattern or the drain is rarely the first step.
Not every repair finishes on that visit. A matched thermostat, fan or seal can require a return trip.
